Western Plains Zoo
Dubbo Solar Panel Cleaning recently completed a clean of all the solar panels at Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo. The project covered panels across several locations, from the bike shed and main plaza to the elephant sheds and freestanding arrays in the fields.
Solar panel cleaning across the zoo
With solar panels spread across buildings and open fields, this was a challenging commercial cleaning project involving a range of locations and access requirements.
- Bike shed: solar panels on top of the bike shed.
- Main plaza: panels on a very steep roof, requiring specialised site safety equipment for access.
- Elephant sheds: rooftop solar panels above the sheds.
- Field arrays: freestanding solar panel arrays across several fields.
Managing challenging roof access
The main plaza presented a particular access challenge because of its very steep roof. Specialised site safety equipment was required to access the panels for cleaning.
Alongside the rooftop installations, the project also included the freestanding arrays in the zoo's fields, bringing together a variety of solar installations within one commercial cleaning job.
